So there appears to be at least one so-called expert (Ashok Kumar) is predicting the Palm Pre will be a dud and no one will buy it. “In our opinion, it is highly unlikely customers of AT&T or Verizon will switch to Sprint. Across the pond, carriers are taking a wait and see attitude given the high platform cost and lack of conviction on sell through. If Sprint does not match or beat AT&T's subsidized iPhone price of $199, which translates to a subsidy in excess of $200, the Pre is DOA.”
My opinion (for what it's worth) is that the device will be a big success. As an owner of 20+ mobile devices I have seen the technology grow over time. Currently, I am using an iPhone and am frustrated with all of the limitations it has. For me (living here in Texas) AT&T has really poor service and coverage, so moving to Sprint can't be worse. As far as the hardware and software goes, if all of the videos that I have seen are even close to what they deliver this quarter then I will be sold and set my iPhone to the side!
CrunchGear has posted a nice article (see link below) talking about the issues that this analyst brings up and their opinions. What is your opinion (please share below)?
